Budapest Intercontinental
Before visiting Budapest, I was told that the only place to stay in town was the Intercontinental Hotel. As soon as I arrived, I knew my friends were right. This place has it all! It is only a short 35 minute drive to the airport. It’s less than 2 miles to the main shopping area. Plus it over looks the Danube and numerous historical buildings; but a great hotel is not defined by its locale alone. The staff at the Intercontinental is committed to serving their clients’ every desire whether it’s for fine lodging, scrumptious food or quality amenities.
There are almost 400 rooms in the Intercontinental and all of them have been recently refurbished. They have comfortable beds, new furniture, state of the art entertainment that ranges from WiFi, high speed internet and satellite TV. But you won’t be looking at that stuff, not with their absolutely amazing view. In fact their view was voted the best in Budapest. Though the standard rooms are very accommodating, I chose to stay in one of their suites which have an added sitting area as well as a second television. The best feature about the suites is that the rooms are really big and they also have that picturesque vista.
The view is such a major feature of the hotel that it has influenced all aspects of it from the Club Lounge on the top floor to the fitness club. In the gym you can look out the window while riding an exercise bike or treadmill. It’s very motivating. After a brisk walk head down to the pool or get a massage, either one will have you feeling refreshed.

The Corso Restaurant is where east meets west. The chefs here are not only trained in Hungarian dishes but are also well versed in Asian cuisine as well. It’s the perfect place for the whole family. In fact on Sunday’s they have brunch that is centered on kids with activities and toys just for them.
The kids aren’t the only one’s that get catered to at the Intercontinental. The service here is superb. Each member of the staff strives to provide their guests with personalized service. If you are a returning visitor, you’ll find your room is set up just the way you like it.
After staying at the Intercontinental, I know that I too will be telling everyone I know that this is the only place to stay when you’re in Budapest.
